About me
I am MBACP Accredited (British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists) and I practice according to the Association's Code of Practice and Ethical Framework. I am also a clinical supervisor providing supervision to students, health care professionals, counsellors and psychotherapists.
My background is in Arts and Media and I use these professional skills to enhance my therapeutic training; it informs my listening - giving my practice a wide range and depth of reference when exploring issues. I have varied and inclusive experience of cultural difference and feel comfortable working within these areas. This often adds a freshness of viewpoint, leading to counselling which can be seen as highly engaging. The evolving respect and trust encourages clients to tackle difficulties and find their own pace and solutions.
I have extensive experience counselling in different settings: having worked in GP surgeries, voluntary and private sectors, as well as having been clinical manager for a community counselling service for two years. Having spent years working in IAPT, I am now concentrating on private practice. My experience covers a wide range of issues including identity, trauma, suicidal thoughts, depression, addictive behaviours, eating disorders, bereavement, low self esteem and many manifestations of psychological difficulties. From June 2019 I will also be working with couples.
I am committed to continual development both personally and professionally, attending workshops, lectures and embracing possibilities that encourages me to expand insight and awareness of myself and others.
